More than 80 feared dead in attack in Ethiopian border region with Sudan

More than 80 civilians were eliminated in an attack on Tuesday in the Benishangul-Gumuz area on Ethiopia’s border with Sudan, the state-appointed Ethiopian Human Rights Commission stated on Wednesday.
“We have received information that over 80 civilians have been killed in yet another massacre,” Aaron Maasho, a senior consultant at the commission, informed Reuters on Wednesday.
He did not state who may have performed the attack.
More than 220 individuals were eliminated in an attack last month in the Benishangul-Gumuz area, which bordersSudan As in last month’s attack, Tuesday’s violence happened in the Metekel zone of the area.
The area is house to a number of ethnic groups. In current years, individuals from the surrounding Amhara area have actually begun moving into the location, triggering some ethnic Gumuz to grumble that fertile land is being eliminated, specialists state.
