Allentown, PA -- Box 3147 was transmitted at 04:34 for a house fire with multiple calls at 611 N. Limestone Street, directly behind the Hibernia Firehouse.
Engines 6, 9, 4, Truck 2 and BN 3 (Scheirer) respond. Engine 6 arrives moments later and transmits a working fire in a 2.5 story S/F/D. Lt. Kutz and his company stretch a handline into the front door to start the attack. Battalion 3 reports heavy fire on floors 2 and 3 and pulls engine 6 out of the house. A defensive attack is ordered.
Battalion 3 transmits the 2nd alarm bringing with it Engines 13, 14, 10, Air 1, Chief 40, 41 and 48.
Crews had difficulties in gaining access to the house with apparatus because of the small alley that it was located on. All handlines had to be hand jacked to the scene. About an hour into the call, the fire broke through portions of the roof. Crews maintained a water curtain on the exposure D, seperated only by the bakers alley. The home is completely gutted. The bulk of the fire was darkened down by 06:00.
